About Commonwealth Animal Hospital (formerly Idlewild Animal Hospital):

Founded in 1992 by Dr. James Schacht and Dr. Clayton Watkins, Idlewild Animal Hospital moved to its new location in May of 2002. The name change to Commonwealth Animal Hospital is reflective of the new locale.

Commonwealth Animal Hospital offers full service veterinary care including surgery, dentistry, in-house laboratory capability, yearly physical exams with either routine immunizations or vaccine titers, X-rays, micro-chip identification, boarding, and bathing.

In addition, we offer alternative treatment options including homeopathy, acupuncture, and chiropractic. Dr. Schacht is certified in veterinary homeopathy (see below for more information on homeopathy) and veterinary acupuncture. Dr. Watkins is certified in veterinary chiropractic.
